Abstract:	Essas notas contêm o material de um curso ministrado no Instituto de Matemática da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro durante o segundo semestre de 1996. O objetivo dessas notas é apresentar alguns métodos úteis para o estudo do diferencial parcial não linear. equações do tipo elíptico. Todo método introduzido é ilustrado por exemplos específicos, descrevendo várias propriedades das equações elípticas.
Abstract:	These notes contain the material of a course given at the Institute of Mathematics of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro during the second semester of 1996. The aim of these notes is to present a few methods that are useful for the study of nonlinear partial differential equations of elliptic type. Every method which is introduced is illustrated by specific examples, describing various properties of elliptic equations.
