dc.description.abstractThis paper describes a graduate program in Computer Network Operations, Internet Technology and Operating Systems' Support, organized by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and which has had a considerable success. One of the main contributions o this paper is the discussion of an appropriate curriculum for computer network managers. The paper discusses the main objectives and issues of the program, which are a practical application-oriented curriculum and the need to provide a strong foundation on several inter-related subject areas, other than computer network technology.en
