Insegurança alimentar e nutricional na atenção materno-infantil

Abstract

Objective: To identify, from the literature, the frequency of food and nutritional insecurity in pregnant women and its impact on the baby's health. Methodology: Integrative review study. A search was carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) in May 2025 using the descriptors: “food insecurity AND maternal nutrition”, resulting in 25 studies. The inclusion criteria were: articles with full texts, published between 2019 and 2024, in Portuguese and English; exclusion criteria were: 17 articles, 3 for reproduction, 1 for being an integrative review, and 13 that did not directly address the topic of maternal food insecurity. The final sample consisted of 9 studies. Results: Factors such as low education level, income, race/color, living in peripheral areas, lack of access to health care, and absence of a partner are associated with food insecurity in pregnant women. There are still few studies on the effects of this condition on the baby's health in the medium and long term. Conclusion: This study highlights the scarcity of research that addresses the impact on maternal and fetal outcomes and highlights the importance of more comprehensive studies looking at the consequences that food and nutritional insecurity can have on maternal and child health.
