dc.description.abstract	A hydroelastic reduced model of one of the tall and flexible legs of a jack-up platform is used for investigation of the effects of large amplitude displacements, and fluidstructure interaction on its dynamic behaviour and on the structural and hydrodynamic damping factors. It is shown that this simplified model, designed and constructed according the Similitude Theory, besides being adequate to represent the overall mechanical characteristics of the complete jack-up model, yields some relevant experimental results that could serve as a guide for rational design of this type offshore structure.	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	Um modelo reduzido hidroelástico, de uma das pernas longas e flexíveis de uma plataforma auto-elevatória, é usada para a investigação dos efeitos causados por grandes deslocamentos e pela interação fluido-estrutura sobre seu comportamento dinâmico, e sobre as taxas de amortecimento estrutural e hidrodinâmico. Mostra-se, que este modelo simplificado, projetado e construído segundo a Teoria da Semelhança, representa adequadamente as características mecânicas globais do modelo completo da auto-elevatória e que, além disso, fornece alguns resultados experimentais relevantes que poderiam balizar um projeto racional deste tipo de estrutura para plataformas marítimas.	pt_BR
