Saúde, Gamboa e Santo Cristo: considerações acerca dos valores atribuídos à região e sua importância para a manutenção da área

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the legislation for the preservation of the artistic and cultural heritage in the city of Rio de Janeiro, especially regarding the neighborhoods of Health, Gamboa and Santo Cristo and to verify the interference of this legislation in the process of valuing these neighborhoods. With the creation of Environmental Preservation Areas (APA), by the city hall, it is prohibited to demolish a large number of architectural assets and create very strict parameters for the reforms and / or constructions and reconstructions to be executed. Evidently this preservation action will interfere in the process of capitalist valorization of the urban soil and with the dynamics of growth of the city.
