| Abstract: | O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar a intervenção do Estado no Nordeste brasileiro, no período de 1950 a 1985, particularizando a forma de intervenção planejada. À medida que avançou o processo de industrialização do país, o Estado teve um papel diferenciado no Nordeste em relação ao Centro-Sul. Enquanto nas áreas que se destacaram pela produção cafeeira c logo em seguida pela expansão de seu mercado e início da industrialização, o Estado teve um papel dinamizador do processo industrial no Nordeste, a participação estatal restringiu-se a construir uma série de obras públicas para acumular água a fim de combater as secas, com o que reforçou o poder das oligarquias da região. Enquanto na primeira região o Estado avança, até a participação direta no processo produtivo (siderurgia, álcalis e indústria mecânica, sobretudo), no Nordeste sua ação vai se caracterizar pelo assistencialismo. |
| Abstract: | The objective of this work is to study the intervention of the State in the Brazilian Northeast, from 1950 to 1985, specifying the form of planned intervention. As the process of industrialization of the country advanced, the State played a distinct role in the Northeast in relation to the Center-South. While in the areas that stood out for the coffee production and soon after the expansion of its market and the beginning of the industrialization, the State had a dynamizing role of the industrial process in the Northeast, state participation was limited to build a series of public works to accumulate water in order to combat the droughts, with which it reinforced the power of the oligarchies of the region. While in the first region the state progresses, to direct participation in the productive process (steel, alkalis and mechanical industry, especially), in the Northeast its action will be characterized by assistance. |
