Abstract: Summary: Covid 19 is characterized by a major impact on humanity in the 21st century and, without distinction between countries, races, social classes and people, it also affected pregnant women and their new-borns. Objective: To describe the profile of pregnant women and the attention received during labour, delivery and immediate postpartum in the presence of the diagnosis of covid-19 in a Maternity School in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Method: Descriptive research, with a quantitative approach. Data was collected from the medical records of pregnant women who gave birth at the Maternity School of UFRJ from August 2020 to January 2021. Inclusion criteria were: data from pregnant women who had their deliveries at the Obstetric Center (OC) of the unit of the study, were at term of pregnancy and
had a diagnosis of covid 19 at the time of delivery. The exclusion criterion was non-single pregnancy. Data were collected using a separate instrument, grouped in the Microsoft Office Excel 2016 program and transferred to the IBM SPSS Statistic version 24 software for analysis of absolute and relative frequencies. Results: 40 records of pregnant women were analysed. In them, all were Brazilian, mostly young people (14-19 years old), non-smokers, non-alcoholics, single, non-white, with high school education and no occupation. With regard to obstetric history, most pregnant women: were in their second pregnancy, had previous normal deliveries (45%), had no history of miscarriages, fetal losses or stillbirths. All underwent prenatal care and routine exams, most had adequate numbers of consultations, had no comorbidities and did not present complications in the current pregnancy. They were
admitted to the unit, mostly, with painful contractions and were routinely tested pre hospitalization for covid-19. After a positive diagnosis of covid-19, the main symptoms presented were: anosmia, ageusia, coryza, cough, headache and fever. The care outlined by the OC nursing team was the following: physical examination, measurement of vital signs,
specific guidelines and precautions in an isolated room. The main outcomes and obstetric care were: normal delivery (52.5%), use of non-pharmacological methods for pain relief (27.5%), episiotomy (4.8%), use of kiwi fruit (14.3 %), drug analgesia (23.8%), oxytocin in labour (23.8%). More than half (66.7%) of pregnant women who had normal delivery had puerperal haemorrhage. Conclusion: It was possible to identify the performance of important nursing care and the concern of the team to relieve pain in labour, with the use of non pharmacological methods and drug analgesia. In addition, qualification in postpartum care was evidenced, avoiding the outcome of maternal aggravation and death in the event of postpartum haemorrhage.

Abstract: Aims: To identify predictive factors of birth weight (BW) of newborns of women with pregestational diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods: Retrospective observational study with data from pregnant women who started prenatal nutritional monitoring up to 28 weeks, single pregnancy, and BW information. Quantitative variables were analyzed, and mean and standard deviation (SD) measures were calculated. Predictive factors were identified using multivariate linear regression. Results: Eighty-six pregnant women were analyzed, 50% were diagnosed with type 1 DM, 46.5% with type 2 DM, and 3.5% with unclassified DM; 41% were mixed black and white, 35.6% had overweight and 33.3% had pregestational obesity. The mean BW was 3313.9g (SD=696.08). The predictive factors identified were: in the model I -gestational weight gain
(GWG) at the 3rd trimester (ß=60.42; p=0.04), and gestational age at delivery (ß=194.03; p<0.001); in model II - gestational weight gain (GWG) at the 3rd trimester (ß=58.73; p=0.04), and gestational age at delivery (ß=226.55; p<0.001); in model III -time of diagnosis of DM (ß=28.52; p=0.01, gestational weight gain (GWG) at the 3rd trimester (ß=68.86;
p=0.02), and gestational age at delivery (ß=232.99; p<0.001); adjusted by time of diagnosis of DM and 1rd, 2nd, and 3rd trimester. Conclusion: The results indicate that weight gain in the 3rd trimester and gestational age at delivery explain the BW of newborns of women with pregestational DM. The results contribute to the review of the prenatal routines of this group of pregnant women, as they are modifiable variables.

Abstract: Objective: To describe the prevalence of COVID-19 during pregnancy/immediate postpartum and the repercussions on maternal health and conditions at birth. Methods: Pilot study carried out with postpartum women treated in the postpartum period in a public maternity hospital. Adopted inclusion criteria: adults (age ≥18 years), hospitalized within 24 hours oostpartum, having received prenatal care and carrying a single fetus. The severity of COVID-19 was classified as asymptomatic; mild, moderate and severe symptomatic according to the symptoms. Student's t-tests were used to compare 2 means, Chi-square test to analyze the association between variables, and bivariate Pearson correlation, with statistical significance of p<0.05. Results: 166 postpartum women with a mean age of 27.42 ± 5.85 years were studied. The prevalence of COVID-19 during pregnancy was equivalent to 8.4% (n=14). Regarding severity, 71.4% (n=10) were clinically classified as mild, 21.4% moderate (n=3) and 7.1% as severe (n=1). Postpartum women who had COVID-19 during pregnancy had a lower average gestational weight gain (6.83, standard deviation – SD =5.20). Newborns born to mothers with COVID-19 during pregnancy had a lower mean head circumference, significantly correlated with gestational weight gain (r=0.16; p=0.04). Postpartum women classified as moderate/severe had a higher average number of abortions (1.50, SD =1.00). Conclusion: This study demonstrated impaired gestational weight gain and newborn head circumference in pregnant women with COVID-19. The findings encourage a different perspective when pregnant or postpartum women are exposed to COVID-19, due to the impact on maternal health and conditions at birth.

Abstract: A good nurse is endowed with numerous qualities, including the organization of thoughts and ideas, good coordination with the entire multidisciplinary team and good insights for solving everyday problems. In a neonatal intensive care unit, in the care of premature babies and babies with acute and chronic pathologies, these qualities are basically prerequisites. However, the presence of such professionals in deciding on the therapeutic plan for newborns (NBs) in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is still somewhat unknown, especially when linked to the participation of this professional in round practice. This practice is used to discuss cases, interaction of the multidisciplinary team on various issues pertinent to the care, recovery and prognoses of newborns, such as: medication dose, volume and type of diet, type of care that this newborn needs. At different times, the nurse is the professional who least punctuates or shows his opinions and the most possessor of information about the general and detailed condition of the NB. This study sought to describe the role and self-perception of nurses in a neonatal intensive care unit, how they made their contributions within the multidisciplinary team in order to show that their participation and performance were essential and that they were needed . This is a qualitative-quantitative, descriptive, exploratory study, carried out in a NICU of a maternity hospital at a federal university.
