Abstract: In 2019, the Deputy Director of Collections was created, responsible for coordinating the integration of curatorial activities and seeking technical solutions in dialogue with the Directorate and the Collections Committee, a collegiate advisory body with representation from the departments and sectors involved in curatorial activities. One of the fruits of this institutional cooperation is this Collections Management Policy of the National Museum/UFRJ (PGCMN), a document that establishes general guidelines for the management of collections, including mechanisms and governance flow with definitions of attributions and responsibilities. This document serves as a guide for the various agents who work directly with the collection, as well as for strategic decision-making, always in accordance with the organizational chart and other institutional policies. The elaboration of this Policy outline with the participation of professors, technicians and external collaborators, who, organized in a Working Group, researched references, legal frameworks and bibliography, consolidating the discussions in a document widely disseminated for analysis and suggestions.
