Abstract: Considering that the seismic survey has shown to be a quite efficient geophysical method in the study of the geology in subsurface, mainly, with the objective of determining possible structures capable to store hydrocarbons. This monograph seeks to present a study about seismic survey accomplished in the last years in the basins of Camamu, Almada, Jequitinhonha and Cumuruxatiba. Firstly, it was made a geological description of the basins in study, presenting the crono-stratigraphical and structural evolution of them. Soon afterwards, it is described as the seismic acquisition is accomplished, in earth and in sea; showing how it is made each stage of the seismic processing, step-by-step, on the data. After these stages, the volume of data proceeds for the analysis of the interpreters. With the geological information at hands determine the petroleum system of each basin indicating the location of oil wells. ln this case, it is indispensable that a certain number of geological requirements happened simultaneously in the sedimentary basins. ln other words, the synchronism that makes the generating rock reservoirs, sealing, traps and migration originate and grow in an appropriate scale of time for the formation and accumulations of petroleum.

Abstract: The present repor! is a review on Solimões and Amazonas basins geology, and magnetotelluric method application to Juruá region. The report results were obtained from J. L. Porsani's Thesis which is the main public reference on magnetotelluric use in Solimões basin. The magnetotelluric data acquisition and processing have permitted to detail the structural geology of that region through images of geo-electric sections. The field data were collected along three profiles of 15 km long, the spaces between each 35 stations ranging from 400 m to 3500 m. The frequency range was 0.001 Hz to 300 Hz which allow investigating depths down to 60 km. The static effect was corrected. The Juruá sedimentary package is a sub-horizontal layer sequence which turns possible a one dimensional modeling. The invariant of the magnetotelluric tensor was utilized for analyzing the geo-electric subswface. ln arder to inverting the tensor the Bostick-Niblett transformation and one-dimension Occam inversion algorithm were performed to. ln the Solimões basin it is identified a sedimentary package corresponding to a depositional sequence which layers are conductive or resistive altematively, a fault zone and the geo-electric basement. The results show a good agreement with seismic data acquisition and resistivity well logs.

Abstract: This work investigated the application of the magnetic geophysical method in the determination of notable geologic features in regards to the search of hydrocarbons in the Parana basin. A geologic characterization of the basin was carried contemplating mainly aspects referring the stratigraphy, structural geology, geochronological evolution and petroleum geology. Besides this the description of the magnetic method was accomplished concerning its theoretical basis, describing relevants practical aspects for its use in field surveys and its specific application regarding the hydro-carbons prospecting. It was works of well-known relevance that indicated the importance of the use the magnetic method for the identification of significant structural features in the dynamics of the regional petroliferous system. It was possible to conclude that, in Parana basin very peculiar geologic features, such as diabase doors-sill over paleozoics sediments (main petroliferous target of the basin), constitutes a limiting factor to a good seismic imaging of the region, and delegates to the potentials methods an important task to add essential information without which one could not perform a correct local geological interpretation.

Abstract: The objective of this work is to understand how electromagnetic methods can be used to study the geology of a Brazilian basin. For this matter, a complete discussion about Potiguar and Ceara basin was made, as well as a complete study of two major methods in the electromagnetic branch of geophysics. These two were: Magnetotteluric Method and Controlled Source Electromagnetic Method (CSEM). The final step of this work was to review a set of case studies, which could help understand how the electromagnetic method are supposed to work in a Brazilian basin.
