Abstract: This Thesis, affiliated with the field of Text Linguistics, focuses on the recategorization processes of female protagonists and antagonists in the fairy tale “Cinderella,” in the versions by Perrault (2013) and Grimm (2021). The justification lies in the fact that, belonging to Children's and Young Adult Literature, fairy tales hold significant influence on society, explicitly or implicitly shaping generations and their positions. From this, the hypothesis posits a referential process filled with argumentative orientations (Koch; Elias, 2020 [2016]) that contrast the female characters, potentially marking a sexist ideological perspective. Thus, the general objective is to demonstrate, through referencing, that female protagonists are described following the stereotype of fragile, passive, and suffering women, while female antagonists follow the pattern of being strong, active, and aggressive. The specific objectives are: i) to analyze the referential chain RC1 of the discourse object “protagonist” (Cinderella), verifying the construction of stereotypes; ii) to analyze the referential chains RC2 and RC3 of the discourse objects “antagonists” (stepmother and stepsisters); iii) to observe how the intertwining of the main referential chain with the secondary chains may contribute to the recategorization of the protagonist. For this purpose, the theoretical foundation draws on various materials, such as those by Coelho (1991), Tatar (2013), Colomer (2003, 2017), Michelli (2004, 2020), Feres (2023), regarding Children's and Young Adult Literature; and by Bentes (2000, 2001), Marcuschi (2001, 2008), Mondada and Dubois (2003), Cavalcante (2003, 2011, 2013), Cavalcante and Santos (2012, 2014), Koch and Elias (2020, 2017), among others, regarding referencing. The corpus consists of two classic European fairy tales translated into Portuguese. Methodologically, a qualitative approach to the corpus was employed, complemented by a quantitative perspective on the recurrence of certain uses and their sense effects.

Abstract: This doctoral thesis examines the dialogue between Borderlands/La Frontera: the new mestiza (1987), by Chicana writer Gloria Anzaldúa, and Terramara (2004), by Mexican writer Estela Alicia López Lomas (Esalí), through the relationship between border, body, and writing. The study examines the literary strategies employed by the authors to problematize processes of identity formation from a feminine perspective, represented by the new mestiza in Borderlands and by the character Mará in Terramara. Considering the centrality of the border in both works, it is observed that although the characters are situated within the geopolitical space between the United States and Mexico, their journeys exceed territorial boundaries and involve identitarian, psychic, and sexual dimensions. The research is qualitative and bibliographic in nature, grounded in a sociocritical approach linked to Cultural Studies. The results reveal points of convergence, such as the construction of hybrid texts and the use of mythical elements, as well as divergences in the ways female identity is articulated: in Borderlands, through a process of reconstruction from erasure; in Terramara, through a dynamic of rupture with no return to origins. It is concluded that, despite their differences, both authors draw on personal and collective experience and turn to writing through artist-characters as a means of subverting social norms, questioning gender hierarchies, and exploring alternative ways of existing and surviving in the present moment.; Esta tesis analiza el diálogo entre Borderlands/La Frontera: the new mestiza (1987), de la escritora chicana Gloria Anzaldúa, y Terramara (2004), de la escritora mexicana Estela Alicia López Lomas (Esalí), a partir de la relación entre frontera, cuerpo y escritura.

Abstract: Le présent travail se propose d'analyser, de discuter et de comparer les concepts liés à&#xD;
l'écriture à partir des œuvres des philosophes et penseurs français Roland Barthes et Jean-&#xD;
Luc Nancy, ainsi que leur rapport avec la pratique de l'« escrevivência » à travers cinq&#xD;
poèmes tirés du recueil Poemas da Recordação e outros movimentos de l'auteure&#xD;
brésilienne noire Conceição Evaristo (2008). Ce dialogue entre la perspective théorique&#xD;
et critique française et l'analyse de l'œuvre poétique de l'auteure brésilienne vise à&#xD;
réfléchir sur le rôle que son travail occupe désormais au sein de la littérature&#xD;
contemporaine brésilienne, mais surtout sur la présence du corps dans sa relation à&#xD;
l'écriture, considéré ici comme un corpus « escrevivente ». Pour ce faire, nous partons&#xD;
d’une analyse des concepts d’écriture et d’ex-écriture, tant dans l’œuvre de Barthes que&#xD;
dans celle de Nancy, afin de les confronter à l’« escrevivência » esquissée par Evaristo et&#xD;
tenter ainsi de situer les ramifications d’un autre espace fondamental dans les études&#xD;
littéraires: la place de l’inachèvement dans la littérature, ou de l’inachèvement en tant que&#xD;
littérature.

    <title>Uma obra de todos, uma obra de ninguém: A Carmen entre adaptação e recepção</title>

Abstract: This dissertation investigates the conditions that sustain the historical permanence of Carmen,&#xD;
from its genesis in Prosper Mérimée’s novella to its consolidation as an opera by Georges&#xD;
Bizet and its multiple reinscriptions throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The&#xD;
central problem consists in understanding how the work exceeds the limits of its original&#xD;
media and endures as a narrative matrix continuously reactivated within the cultural&#xD;
imagination. The main hypothesis argues that the longevity of Carmen lies in its structural&#xD;
plasticity and liminal constitution, situated between genres, languages, and aesthetic regimes.&#xD;
The analysis articulates adaptation theory, performance studies, and reflections on regimes of&#xD;
reception, approaching the work not as a fixed entity but as a historical process in constant&#xD;
reconfiguration. Particular attention is given to the intersemiotic transposition from literary&#xD;
narrative to lyric stage, emphasizing how the integration of music, gesture, and staging&#xD;
inaugurates a new sensory economy and expands the character’s field of meaning.The&#xD;
investigation also considers the interpretative tradition and the role of recording technologies&#xD;
in consolidating the myth, as well as case studies that reveal symbolic disputes surrounding&#xD;
the legitimacy of who may embody the protagonist. The comparison between contemporary&#xD;
stagings and the trajectories of performers such as Jessye Norman and Maria D’Apparecida&#xD;
highlights discursive and institutional mechanisms of regulation within the operatic field,&#xD;
especially in the Brazilian context. The study concludes that Carmen emerges as a work&#xD;
belonging to everyone and to no one: appropriable by successive cultural agents and, at the&#xD;
same time, resistant to definitive fixation of meaning, sustaining its survival through ongoing&#xD;
negotiations between tradition and renewal.
