Considered the largest university library in the health area in the state of Rio de Janeiro, its closure caused enormous losses both physically and academically, as students were left without access to the entire collection for more than six years. After its closure and the lack of means to renovate the space, the unit's managers had to adopt strategic measures to raise funds for the renovation and subsequent reopening, which is taking place in modules, since the total space is 6,000 m² and the University does not have the financial resources to carry out the work in its entirety. Thus, the main objective of this article is to report our experience, from the closure to the present day, in the fight to reopen the BC-CCS.
