Abstract: The present study has the purpose of rebuilding the organization and structuring process of the first Schools of Social work (Family and Social Education Institute, Technical School of Social Assistence Cecy Dodsworth
and Social Service School of the former State of Rio de Janeiro), in the period of 1930 to 1950, learning the main guidelines applied to the theoretical and practical development the mentioned schools and to compare them one another, to identify differences and/ or likennesses among its projects of professional improvement and its articulation with the social projects visá vissociety in that period. This study can be justified by the attempt of breaking through some general analyses the profession, so common in the intellectual production of
Social Work, bring for instance: that the Social Workers are professionals come from agreement the wealthiest layers of society, that the advent of Social work Schools is necessarily linked to the action of the Catholic Church based on the Church’s Social Doctrine. Thus, we tried to verify to what extent those generalizations were valid, corresponding to the concrete historical processes, and as they were socially linked with the representations built in the profession, looking for the specific details that we believed to exist in the process of creation of Social Workers Schools in the former State of Rio de Janeiro, in order to be able to compare them to one another, analyzing them critically and reconstruct the history of the profession in Rio de Janeiro, thus
producing, new knowledge in this area.

Abstract: This thesis is the result of theoretical research aimed at a critical analysis of privatization processes in the Unified Health System (SUS). The work was based on a bibliographical review of articles and theses in the field of the political economy of health, related to the expansion of processes of privatization and financialization of social policies, evidenced through research with secondary data. To this end, we focused on the debate on outsourcing the management of public health services, understood as a “non-classical privatization”, but no less consequential. The main objectives of the thesis were twofold: i) to analyse the privatization of public health
management in Brazil in dialogue with elements of the Marxist Theory of Dependency (TMD) and the Political Economy of Health (EPS); ii) to debate trends and impasses in non-classical processes of privatization of the SUS that involve outsourcing the management of public health services. We analyze this process from the perspective of a critique of political economy, which translates into a political economy of health. In addition, we emphasize the understanding that the analysis of public-private relations in health is part of a broader analysis of capitalist development in Brazil's economic and social formation, and of the particularities of a hybrid health system in a dependent State, where the State category has explanatory centrality. To this end, we work together with the categories State, dependency, public fund, financialization, neoliberalism and public-private relations to critically debate privatization processes within SUS, which are considered non-classical and involve processes of commercialization of the management of public health services. For a more in-depth discussion of the determinants of dependency and its historical process, we aligned ourselves with the Marxist Theory of Dependency in order to unveil the particularities of the Brazilian State and how the expanded reproduction of capital has been taking place in the health sector, particularly in “neoliberal dependency”. We also seek to minimize the polysemic traits of the category neoliberalism, with explicit theoretical adherence to Marxist
interpretations of this category, in the very sense that we defend the hypothesis that neoliberalism does not represent a mere reissue of classical liberalism, and explains the power of this political project that refunctionalizes the State in contemporary times. Some of the conclusions presented point to the fact that this project permanently strains the State, seeking to refunctionalize it in favor of strengthening the private health services sector by de-funding the SUS in the provision of its own services. This is a project that transforms the
public-private concept and imposes a certain mode of social reproduction, in a universe of new processes of individualization, privatization and complete aversion to the redistribution of wealth through universalizing social policies, such as SUS, particularly from the 1990s onwards in Brazil. We are therefore talking about a hegemonic project, on a global scale, but which specifically affects the peripheral countries. Finally, we stress our understanding that it is through the tools of the political economy of health and the analysis of “neoliberal dependency” that we can structure Marxist criticism in the field of Collective Health, as well as the struggle for the deprivatization of SUS.

Abstract: This thesis is composed of an object that forms an intrinsic theoretical unity within the Brazilian social formation: the “racial question” and the “social question.” The objective of the study was to understand the intertwining of these two categories in Brazil. Initially, a bibliographic study was conducted on the power relations constituted in and for the sociability of capital, responsible for the coalitions in the social formations of Latin America and functional to imperialism and neocolonialism. This basis for discussion was fundamental to understanding the determinations experienced by Black workers, especially by highlighting the universally constructed societal project built by racism in its various strategies and forms of operation within the capitalist system. After this investigation, using Aesthetic Realism as a methodological resource, two stages were carried out: the first concerns research in the National Archives of Brazil, in search of documents from institutions of the First Republic created to address the poverty demands generated by the colonial and post-colonial context, aiming to identify the ethno-racial profile of the workers; The second part corresponds to the use of art in two phases: initially, the search for Black authors who experienced Brazil before and after the abolition of enslaved labor, and then the analysis of literary texts written by these intellectuals. The investigative path and the presentation of the results were defined throughout the documentary research, which demonstrated that the racial profile of the country and the reality of Black people, popularly marked and justified by structural issues, required a qualitative approach. This perspective revealed, in addition to the already known methods, the denunciations, demands, and resistance expressed in the production of knowledge specific to that time: strategically, through literary art. The study concluded that it is only possible to recognize the centrality of the "racial question" in the so-called "social question" in Brazil if the daily lives of workers are observed – whether through art or through official data that systematize the country's memory.
