A escrita da história como um processo: as práticas historiográficas de Françoise Choay (1965-1973)

Abstract

The object of the present work is the production of the philosopher Françoise Choay. More specifically, it deals with texts developed by the author between 1965 and 1973, in which she focuses on the history of urbanism, namely “L'Urbanisme en question” (1965), “L'histoire et la méthode en urbanisme” (1970) and “Urbanisme. Théories et réaliasations”. The hypothesis involves the need to launch a deeper look at the historiographical practices of the author, emphasizing the procedural character and the enunciation conditionings of her theory. The ideas developed in this work are supported by the notion of “historiographical operation” as stated by Michel de Certeau in his book The writing of history (1975). From the limits of this operation described by Certeau – the places, practices and writing of historical narrative – it seeks to clarify the elements that Choay maintains and changes in her process of interpreting the memory of a discipline called urbanism, in his history of urbanism.
