Atuação do terapeuta ocupacional na intervenção precoce com bebês prematuros

Abstract

The increase in survival rates of preterm and low birth weight infants has been perceived over the years. The early identification of complications and an adequate care for the needs of the neonate in the first months of life will have an impact on their development. At this moment, early multidisciplinary intervention can be of great value in the clinical reception of this clientele. It was made a narrative review of the literature on the performance of the occupational therapist in early intervention with premature babies. It was identified that the occupational therapist may contribute to the development of preterm infants, realizing the early intervention since the UTI to ambulatory follow-up, with focus on the baby, the environment and the family. Through this research it was also observed that there is still a shortage of publications of occupational therapists in this area.
