| Abstract: | Objetivo: Investigar a efetividade do uso da glicose 25% associada à sucção não nutritiva no manejo da dor durante o exame oftalmológico. Métodos: Estudo transversal, experimental, quatitativo com 56 recém-nascidos submetidos ao exame oftalmológico. O grupo controle (n=28) não recebeu qualquer intervenção e o grupo experimental (n=28) recebeu 1 ml de glicose 25% associada à sucção não nutritiva. A dor foi avaliada através da Escala de Avaliação da Dor neonatal. Os dados foram analisados com auxílio auxílio do programa Statistical Package for the Social Science. Resultados: Constatou-se diferença estatisticamente significante entre os grupos experimental e controle em relação à avaliação da presença de dor durante o procedimento. Conclusão: o uso da glicose 25% associada à sucção não nutritiva exerceu um efeito analgésico nos recém-nascidos submetidos ao exame oftalmológico. Sugere-se a implantação desta ou de outras medidas não Farmacológicas como rotina na realização da oftalmoscopia. |
| Abstract: | Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of using 25% glucose associated with non-nutritive sucking in pain management during ophthalmologic examination. Methods: Cross-sectional, experimental, quantitative study with 56 newborns submitted to ophthalmologic examination. The control group (n=28) did not receive any intervention and the experimental group (n=28) received 1 ml of 25% glucose associated with non-nutritive sucking. Pain was assessed using the Neonatal Pain Assessment Scale. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science program. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups regarding the assessment of the presence of pain during the procedure. Conclusion: the use of 25% glucose associated with non-nutritive sucking exerted an analgesic effect on newborns submitted to ophthalmologic examination. It is suggested the implementation of this or other non-Pharmacological measures as a routine in the performance of ophthalmoscopy. |
