Do itinerário urbano das travestis na Lapa à Casa Nem: reflexões sobre o espaço de resistência e luta na sociedade carioca

Abstract

The article is the result of a brief study about transvestites in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, with the main objective of presenting Casa Nem, a project created in this neighborhood by a transsexual militant who seeks to welcome transvestites, transsexuals and other LGBT people at social risk. To contextualize the construction of Lapa as a "tranvestites territory" in the city of Rio de Janeiro, we will approach this bohemian sector of the city, based on a study conducted by the anthropologist Helio R. da Silva with Lapa transvestites. Next we will present some transformations that occurred after the political reopening, starting from the action of the social movements, in particular that promoted by transvestites for the conquest of new spaces in the political and social scene. Through this script, we expose the historical transformation of Lapa, the relations of sociability proposed by the actors that circulate there, and finally, a synthetic description of the Casa Nem and its importance for the city and their inhabitants, from their own lines.
