Introdução à análise fonológica da língua Pury na modalidade de Guiricema (MG): por um trabalho de Memória e Ressurgência

Abstract

The main goal of this work is to have the first material about memory and resurgence of the Pury language, from Guiricema (MG), used in three rural communities, located in the region of Guiricema (MG): Fazenda dos Gregórios, in Cruzeiro; the district headquarters of Tuiutinga; and Pé da Serra de Tuiutinga, in Valão district. The analysis is based on a significant corpus resulting from research carried out between 2020 and 2023 with the consultant Nhãmanrrúri Stxutér Kaiá – Felismar Manoel (1939), the last speaker of the language. Here, we present a first step towards achieving this main goal, with the introduction to the study of the phonological system and syllabic patterns of Pury de Guiricema (MG). The specific objectives, we outline: (i) discuss the classification of extinct or dead languages in the field of Linguistic Policy and Indigenous Language Policy; (ii) synthesize literary records and academic works on the study of the Tronco Macro-Jê and the Pury family; (iii) propose the first studies on phonology and syllabic structure of the Pury language of Guiricema (MG). Our work, from an interdisciplinary perspective, combines assumptions from the area of Language Policy with those from the area of Phonology, aspects of the Prague School (Trubetzkoy, 1939) and Autosegmental Theory (Goldsmith 1976) in the analysis of syllabic structure respectively. Finally, the study makes a contribution to promoting historical reparation among the Pury People, victims of epistemicide, — erasure of the productions and knowledge of a People — who had an important role in the formation of the culture of the southeast and who, in the face of the process of miscegenation occurred, experienced the invisibility of their culture, silenced their history and their language, a fact that motivated the current idea of their supposed erasure.
