| Abstract: | A infecção induzida pelo HPV no trato anogenital constitui-se atualmente em verdadeira epidemia. Por outro lado, é crescente a incidência da neoplasia intra-epitelial vulvar (VIN). É estreita a relação entre o HPV e a VIN. Todavia, há evidências da pouca frequência da associação do HPV às lesões malignas vulvares, indicando que parece ser baixo o potencial de malignização da VIN indiferenciada, aquela ligada ao HPV. O líquen escleroso e a VIN diferenciada, apesar de pouco comuns, podem ser encontrados com grande frequência nas cercanias da maioria dos cânceres vulvares. Admite-se, pois, que o câncer da vulva tenha duas etiologias e, em consequência, duas vias carcinogênicas distintas, podendo originar-se a partir de uma VIN diferenciada e, menos frequentemente, a partir de uma VIN diferenciada. |
| Abstract: | The HPV infection in anogenital tract has been considered a real epidemic. Besides, the incidence of vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN) is becoming higher. HPV infection and VIN have a close relationship. However, the evidences show little association between HPV and malignant vulvar lesions, suggesting that undifferentiated VIN, which is HPV indureced, has a low malignancy potential. Lichen sclerosus and differentiated VIN despite of being rare conditions, may be found adjacent to vulvar cancer in the majority of the cases. It is believed that vulvar cancer has two etiologies, therefore, two distinct carcinogenetic pathways; it can be originated from a differentiated VIN, and less frequent, from an undifferentiated VIN. |
