| Abstract: | Certos parques urbanos ao redor do mundo desempenham um papel importante na construção da identidade paisagística das cidades. Muitos deles, portanto, são considerados paisagens patrimoniais. Este artigo discute o processo de formação do patrimônio em relação aos espaços públicos verdes. Ele se concentra particularmente no Parque do Flamengo, no Rio de Janeiro, um dos exemplos mais notáveis do planejamento urbano e paisagístico brasileiro da década de 1960. Este estudo faz parte de um projeto de pesquisa mais amplo para compreender os valores e significados dos parques para as cidades e sua população. Três temas principais serão discutidos: um breve relato da criação do parque, os valores que sustentam a ordem de preservação e o papel do parque no reforço da identidade da cidade. Finalmente, o artigo conclui argumentando que as paisagens patrimoniais, como paisagens culturais, nunca são um produto acabado, mas sim lugares em constante transformação e reinterpretação por aqueles que as gerenciam ou utilizam. |
| Abstract: | Certain urban parks around the world play an important role in the construction of a land scape identity in the cities. Many of them, therefore, are regarded as heritage landscapes. This paper discusses the process of heritage formation concerning green public spaces. It focus particularly on Parque do Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro, one of the outstanding examples of Brazilian urban and landscape design of the 1960s. This study is part of a broader research project for understanding the values and meanings of parks for the cities and their population. Three main themes will be discussed. A brief account of the making of the park, the values underpinning the preservation order and the role of the park in reinforcing the city identity. Finally the paper concludes arguing that heritage landscapes as cultural landscapes are never a finished product but rather places in constant transformation and re-interpretation from those who manage or use them. |
