Representação trans de dentro para fora da tela: investigações rumo ao centro da política de representação audiovisual

Abstract

This research aims to investigate Brazilian audiovisual representations of transgender and travesti individuals and their relationship with the regulatory mechanisms of cisgender norms, as well as their potential for transformation not only within cinematic narratives but also overflowing from inside to outside the screen. Through the analysis of audiovisual works and conducting interviews with transgender and travesti professionals in the national audiovisual industry, the goal is to comprehend the hegemonic and regulatory discourses on gender and sexuality historically present in Brazilian cinema productions. Additionally, it seeks to explore audiovisual media as a visibility and empowerment device for existences diverging from the norm, moving towards the center of both image and narrative.
