| Title: | Estudo experimental de um mancal de folha |

| Abstract: | Estudo experimental de um mancal aerostático radial de folha. Um eixo vertical é suportado axialmente por um mancal de escora lubrificado a ar e radialmente por dois mancais de folha, constituído cada um por 3 segmentos que envolvem o eixo e tracionados por tirantes. Nas superfícies de contato e injetado ar sob pressão através das folhas de modo a se obter a separação. A separação é medida em função da pressão do ar injetado e da tração nos tirantes. Os testes de funcionamento mostraram um comportamento estável entre 2000 e 16200 rpm e ausência total de contato entre as folhas e o eixo a partir de 9300 rpm. Foram feitas medidas da rigidez do mancal constatando-se que esta é bem menor do que a rigidez do filme de ar. Foi feito um cálculo teórico simples dos principais parâmetros do mancal utilizando a teoria convencional para mancais de sapata rígida, obtendo-se boa aproximação com os resultados experimentais. |
| Abstract: | Experimental study of an aerostatic radial foil bearing. A vertical shaft is supported axially by an air lubricated thrust bearing and radially by two foil bearings, each one made up of 3 segments of foils around the shaft, and tensioned by pulling rods. Compressed air is injected between the contact surfaces to obtain separation. Separation is measured as a function of the injected air pressure and the tension at the foils. The operation tests showed a stable performance from 2000 to 16200 rpm and total absense of contact between the foils and the shaft over 9300 rpm. Measurements of the stifness of the bearings showed values much lower than the stifness of the film of lubricant. A simple theorectical calculation of the main parameters of the bearing was made based on the conventional theory for rigid pads aerostatic bearings, showing good aproximation of experimental results. |
