dc.description.abstract	This dissertation comprises an extensive literature review and a study of groundwater flow in some typical cases of slopes of residual and saprolitic soils in tropical regions, using a finite element program to obtain flow nets. The influence of internal drainage systems on the drawdown of the groundwater level and the reduction of the influence of seepage flow and its change to a more favorable configuration to the stability was studied. It was found that flow nets are an excellent tool for the design of internal drainage systems.	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	Neste trabalho, além de uma revisão bibliográfica extensiva, estudou-se a percolação da água em alguns casos de taludes em solos residuais de regiões tropicais, tendo-se valido de um programa de elementos finitos para obtenção de redes de fluxo. Observou-se a influência de dispositivos de drenagem no rebaixamento do nível freático e na melhoria da influência das forças de percolação, trazendo uma mudança para uma condição mais favorável à estabilidade. Verificou-se que as redes de fluxo são uma ferramenta eficaz para se chegar ao melhor projeto de sistemas de drenagem interna.	pt_BR
