Aula de química para bibliotecários utilizando as categorias fundamentais de Ranganathan

Abstract

Story on the experience in the management of the Library Professor Jorge de Abreu Coutinho, of the Institute of Chemistry in the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro on the difficulty of the new librarians in classifying books of chemistry received by purchase, donation or exchange and satisfactorily to take care of the organization of this area of the knowledge in the bookshelves of the library and that it reflects the indexation in the database Minerva, that is the base that reflects the System of Documentation of the UFRJ. To diminish such difficulty, a chemistry lesson was presented, in simple way, made especially for librarians, using the concepts of Ranganathan’s Classification. We intend that a chemistry lesson to be given habitually to the new employees who are acquired by our Library.
