Doença de Sjögren: um guia prático para cirurgiões-dentistas

Abstract

Sjögren's disease is a chronic autoimmune systemic disease that mainly affects the lacrimal and salivary glands, resulting in a feeling of security in the eyes (xerophthalmia) and mouth (xerostomia), requiring dental care and monitoring. Due to the complexity and difficulty in diagnosis, it is necessary to develop materials that help health professionals in managing the disease. This guide includes important information such as the epidemiology of the disease, the different classifications, oral and systemic manifestations, diagnostic criteria and types of exams that dentist may request, as well as dental management.
