Paisagem cultural do Rio de Janeiro: notas sobre imagem urbana e (in)justiça ambiental

Abstract

The patrimonial agenda in the sustainable urban rearrangement affects itself by the urgency in the reformulation of images of the present founded on retroactive runs towards the past forms, the supposed sources of urban and patrimonial authenticity. Under the discourse of entropy as a constant of time and cultural forms, and the need of progressive recreation of present, the patrimonial thinking is crucial in processes of restructuring the urban image institutionally established. The Rio de Janeiro’s “cultural landscape” World Heritage of Humanity, the case analyzed in this work, allows to comprehend the paradigms of heritage listing, their discursive categories and projectual dossiers. This work demonstrates that the notions of memory, identity and sustainability are recurrent within the patrimonial discourse and can be assigned, respectively, towards the social-environmental aim of a common civic memory, the urgent construction of a new urban image and, finally, validating projects of unequal distribution of environmental urban resources.
