| Abstract: | Investiga como se construiu a pintura de retratos no Rio de Janeiro no século XIX, seus padrões, seus estilos e sua relação com o meio social a partir do estudo dos retratos pintados por Victor Meirelles. A retratística, no Brasil, teve início no século XVII, seguindo modelos portugueses. A Missão Artística Francesa de 18 16 trouxe um novo modelo para o gênero. Os retratos mais significativos de Victor Meirelles vêm analisados de acordo com sua inserção nos modelos português ou francês e de acordo com o estilo do artista, sem deixar de lado seu aspecto social, uma vez que ele era requisitado para retratar pessoas das classes abastadas, incluindo a Família Imperial e o próprio D. Pedro II. |
| Abstract: | Investigates how was built the portraiture in Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century, its patterns, its styles and its relationship with social environement, basing on the portraits painted by Victor Meirelles. The portrqiture, in Brasil, began in the seventeenth century, following portuguese models. The French Artistic Mission of 18 16 brought a new model for the gender. The most significative portraits of Victor Meirelles are here analised according to its insertion in the portuguese or french models and according to the artist style, without forgetting its social aspect, since he was requested to portrait people from the most wealthy social groups, including the Imperial Family and the Emperor himself. |
