Abstract

The importance of the companion in childbirth matters, regulated by Law 11.108 / 2005 15 years ago, the objective of this study was to analyze the application of the law from the perspective of parturients and/or companions. Studies published between 2005 and 2019, in the CAPES, SCIELO, PEPSIC and LILACS databases, were found in a total of 182 articles. Only 19 studies met the objectives and were read and motivated by Bardin's methodology in three categories: a) Critical analysis on the implementation of Law 11.108 / 2005; b) Role of the companion during childbirth from the perspective of the parturient and the same; and c) The construction of paternity from the presence of the accompanying father at birth. Despite the 15 years of the Law, there are still factors that hinder its implementation, such as the acceptance of the companion during childbirth by the health team and the lack of perinatal education that clarifies the importance of this monitoring during childbirth.
