| Abstract: | O diagnóstico da Doença Trofoblástica Gestacional (DTG) pode resultar em sofrimento psíquico para a díade conjugal, pois o casal vivencia a experiência da perda da expectativa de uma gravidez e a possibilidade da gestação molar, inicialmente benigna, evoluir para um câncer. O objetivo desse estudo foi analisar como casais vivenciam o diagnóstico da DTG e seu tratamento a partir da investigação das percepções e sentimentos de cada membro da díade conjugal. Trata-se de estudo qualitativo composto por amostra de 5 casais, cujas mulheres encontravam-se em tratamento no Centro de Referência em DTG da Maternidade-Escola da UFRJ. Observou-se que a vivência diante do diagnóstico e tratamento da DTG é experimentada pelos casais como um evento traumático, devido às particularidades presentes na dinâmica conjugal frente a este diagnóstico. Conclui-se que sensibilizar a equipe assistencial para fornecer suporte e estabelecer uma boa comunicação com o casal-paciente é essencial para o enfrentamento da doença. |
| Abstract: | The diagnosis of Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD) can result in psychological distress for the marital dyad, as the couple experiences the loss of expectation of a pregnancy and the possibility of a molar pregnancy, initially benign, evolving into cancer. The aim of this study was to analyze how couples experience the diagnosis of GTD and its treatment based on the investigation of the perceptions and feelings of each member of the conjugal dyad. This is a qualitative study composed of a sample of 5 couples, whose women were undergoing treatment at the Reference Center for GTD of the Maternity-School of UFRJ. It was observed that the experience facing the diagnosis and treatment of GTD is experienced by couples as a traumatic event, due to the particularities present in the marital dynamics in the face of this diagnosis. It is concluded that sensitizing the care team to provide support and establish good communication with the patient-couple is essential for coping with the disease. |
