A construção das subjetividades femininas em nuevo teatro crítico

Abstract

Analyze the construction of feminine subjectivities in the Spanish magazine Nuevo Teatro Critico (1891-1893), organized and financed by the writer Emilia Pardo Bazán. In view of the variety of themes discussed in NTC, we will consider only those that we consider to be fundamental for the appreciation, questioning and problematizations in the field of literary studies and studies on the subjectivities of women. Among them, we highlight: female figures in literature, family relationships, childhood, teaching offered to men and women and women's work. We will endeavor to expose the discursive strategies used by Pardo Bazán that protest against the validity of the hierarchy of relations between the genres, in order to question the patriarchy in nineteenth-century Spain. Similarly to what has been openly protested, the discussion about silence and the unsaid by the writer in her articles merits focus. We are products of discursive constructions, mainly because we build ourselves from the moment we come in contact with the discourse of the other. And because human experience is both an individual and collective event, we will also examine, based on the concepts of polyphony and dialogism (BAKHTIN, 1995, 2006), to what extent the voice of Emilia Pardo Bazán contests or identifies with other discourses, Especially those dealing with the recognition and appreciation of women in nineteenth-century patriarchal society. We also highlight the proposal to present the journal NTC as an important source of creation and reproduction of social imaginaries. Dealing with the press Feminism in the nineteenth century, as well as the literature produced in this period, requires recognizing the importance and the significant role of these mental constructs in the creation of "new discursive formations to represent modernity, the modern, the new social subject" (ZAVALA ,1990).
