“Praças Negras”: uma leitura das invenções do samba na cidade do Rio de Janeiro (1890-1930)

Abstract

This monograph work sought to systate and problematize the historiographical and para-historiographical debate that has as its object the discussion about the "origins of Samba". In this sense, we seek to critically examine the argumentative bases and the main conclusions of two basic tendencies: a) The historiographical tendency that works with the paradigm of origins as a place, situated in time and space, to be determined by historical research; b) The tendency, more active from the academic environment, which places under suspicion the very question of "origins", as determinable places, seeking to analyze historically the social and ideological dynamics that the discourses of origin can reveal.
