Abstract:	Este relatório discute a questão dos assentamentos humanos induzidos pela implantação do Projeto Ferro Carajás, de responsabilidade da Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD). Analisando os desníveis nos padrões habitacionais, de infra-estrutura e serviços entre o núcleo urbano planejado da empresa e as cidades "livres" que se formaram em decorrência deste projeto, procuramos realizar um balanço da atuação desta empresa em relação às populações que vivem numa periferia imediata deste grande empreendimento.
Abstract:	This report discusses the issue of human settlements induced by the implementation of the Ferro Carajás Project, under the responsibility of Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD). Analyzing the differences in housing patterns, infrastructure and services between the planned urban center of the company and the "free" cities that were formed as a result of this project, we tried to take stock of the performance of this company in relation to the populations that live in a periphery of this great enterprise.
