dc.description.abstract	The paper seeks to relate the "world city" model to the proposals contained in the scope of the Strategic Plan for the City of Rio de Janeiro. We take as given the influence of this model in the elaboration of the Plan and we aim the analysis in the Seventh Strategy - Rio 2004. This strategy proposes an Olympic event as a catalytic element of the changes towards the development of the city of Rio, as well as of its region metropolitan whenever possible, directed the analysis to the more specific interests of urban planning, seeking to focus the changes (expressed by the Strategic Plan) before the new World Order (Globalization).	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	O trabalho procura relacionar o modelo de "cidade mundial" com as proposições contidas no escopo do Plano Estratégico para a Cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Tomamos como dado a influência deste modelo na elaboração do Plano e objetivamos a análise na Sétima estratégia - Rio 2004. Esta estratégia propõe um evento olímpico como elemento propulsor (catalítico) das mudanças no sentido do desenvolvimento da cidade do Rio, assim como de sua região metropolitana. Procurou-se, sempre que possível, direcionar a análise aos interesses mais específicos do planejamento urbano, procurando enfocar as mudanças (expressas pelo Plano Estratégico) frente à nova Ordem Mundial (Globalização).	pt_BR
