dc.description.abstract	Since the 1980s, in the main Brazilian cities, the installation of shopping centers began. The investment grows in such a way that in the first half of 1990 more than sixty of these ventures were under construction or under construction. Today, shopping malls have become so crowded in city life that it is no exaggeration to say that they have come to dictate social behavior and have become the cutting-edge sector of retail trade. Based on this finding, the work seeks to verify, albeit in a preliminary way, what are and how has the impact of the shopping malls in the space constructed in the city of Rio de Janeiro has been presented.	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	A partir da década de 1980, nas principais cidades brasileiras, teve início a instalação de shopping centers. O investimento cresce de tal modo que no primeiro semestre de 1990, mais de sessenta desses empreendimentos encontravam-se funcionando ou em construção. Hoje, os shoppings se agregaram de tal maneira na vida das cidades, que não é exagero afirmar que eles passaram a ditar comportamentos sociais e tornaram-se setor de ponta do comércio varejista. A partir dessa constatação, o trabalho busca verificar, ainda que de maneira preliminar, quais são e como tem se apresentado o impacto dos shoppings centers no espaço construído na cidade do Rio de Janeiro.	pt_BR
