| Abstract: | Neste trabalho tratamos inicialmente da geologia da bacia Austral, sendo abordados aspectos como estratigrafia, geologia estrutural, geologia histórica e geologia do petróleo. Em seguida, é feita uma descrição do método magnético. Nesse capítulo são apresentados seus princípios teóricos, características particulares e a forma com que ele vem sendo utilizado pela indústria. Além disso, são descritos os principais instrumentos de medida e os tipos de aquisição. Por fim, apresentamos um método de inversão não-linear de dados magnéticos para estimar a profundidade da base de um corpo aflorante, como, por exemplo, o embasamento de uma bacia sedimentar. Na metodologia apresentamos o problema direto, o problema inverso e a teoria do método de Marquardt. |
| Abstract: | The present work begins with a brief exposition on the geology of the Austral basin, in which we deal with several aspects, such as stratigraphy, structural geology, historical geology and petroleum geology. Subsequently, we provide a description of the, magnetic method, in a chapter where is theoretical principles are presented, as well as its particular features and the means by which the industry has been using it. In addition, the measuring instruments and the types of acquisition are introduced. Lastly, we present a non-linear inversion method for magnetic data as a means to estimate the depth of the basis of an outcropping body (e.g. the basement of a sedimentary basin). In the methodology section we present the forward problem and the inverse problem, as well as the theory of the Marquardt method. |
