Consequências do desmonte ambiental no Brasil

Abstract

Environmental dismantling does not happen by chance in Brazil. There is strong political pressure from groups interested in "unlocking" the productive sector from the restrictions imposed by environmental norms. This is based on the process of re-primarization of the Brazilian economy, which is increasingly dependent on agriculture, cattle raising, and mining, whose expansion so far has been characterized by the predatory use of natural resources and by the conflict with the socio-environmental agenda. Environmental exclusion (non-monetary poverty) aggravates the problem of conventional income concentration", referring to the unequal distribution of income and wealth. The intensification of environmental dismantling is a bet on backwardness, which leaves as its legacy the increasing distance between Brazil and all dimensions of sustainability (economic, social, and environmental).
