Perdas e serviços ambientais do recurso água para uso doméstico

Abstract

Environmental costs arising from the use of environmental goods and services are generally not incorporated into conventional income measures. In this study, the relative costs of domestic use of the water resource in urban areas of the country and their relationship with family consumption measures are estimated. Measuring these costs is, however, not trivial. Therefore, two estimation methods were adopted: one that seeks to determine values ​​associated with health costs related to the degradation of water quality and another that calculates the investment costs necessary to avoid these environmental losses. The analysis of the results will also allow evaluating the economicity of basic sanitation actions in Brazil.
