| Abstract: | O guia “Atenção à saúde bucal de pessoas que vivenciaram adversidades na infância” aborda o cuidado odontológico de indivíduos que passaram por experiências adversas entre 0 e 18 anos. As Experiências Adversas na Infância (EAI) são eventos potencialmente traumáticos e podem gerar efeitos negativos duradouros ao longo de toda a vida, inclusive na saúde bucal. Entre os exemplos de EAI, incluem-se diferentes formas de violência, abusos e negligências. De forma didática e acessível, o guia apresenta aos cirurgiões dentistas recomendações para a oferta de cuidados informados pelo trauma, com o objetivo de proporcionar a essas pessoas um atendimento odontológico que não reative gatilhos relacionados às experiências adversas vivenciadas na infância ou adolescência. |
| Abstract: | The guide “Oral health care for people who experienced childhood adversities” addresses dental care for individuals who went through adverse experiences between the ages of 0 and 18. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are potentially traumatic events that can generate long-lasting negative effects throughout life, including impacts on oral health. Examples of ACEs include different forms of violence, abuse, and neglect. In a clear and accessible manner, the guide provides dentists with recommendations for delivering trauma informed care, with the aim of offering these individuals dental treatment that does not reactivate triggers related to the adverse experiences they lived through in childhood or adolescence. |
