O ideário do direito à cidade na identidade e atuação dos sujeitos coletivos: reflexões a partir da experiência do Comitê Popular da Copa e das Olimpíadas do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

The concept of the right to the city has been claimed by different subjects over the last decades in different metropolises of the world. In the theoretical framework, Henri Lefebvre and David Harvey, contributed to construct the concept of right to the city that contemplates the democratization of the value in use of the cities as much as the utopian dimension in which only the revolutionary praxis can determine its extension. This article aims to verify to what extent the concept of the right to the city is a constituent part in the practice of urban collective subjects nowadays as well as what is the content of this right. This discussion will be provided through the qualitative assessment of documents produced by these collective subjects, especially the dossiers launched by the World Cup and Olympics Popular Committee of Rio de Janeiro organized in this city between 2010 and 2016.
