Migrações transnacionais, interculturalidade, políticas e comunicação

Abstract

In 2017, the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro hosted in Brazil the IX Migrations Forum and the V Migratic Symposium, two events that offered a space for presentations and discussions of researches and experiences developed by academics, immigrants and migratory movement activists who work in different contexts in which the diversity of presence and migratory issues are also unique in their local and national configurations and, at the same time, converge through in a transnational perspective. The general theme – Interculturality, Communication and Transnational Migration: Frontiers, Policies and Citizenship – was discussed at parallel sections that, from an interdisciplinary perspective, were about media, mediations and migrant activism; migration policies, borders and citizenship; diasporas, alterity concept and cultural identities; intercultural dialogues and social inclusion; migration, action and representation; refuge and forced migration; and migration and exclusion geopolitics. One part of the papers presented at IX Forum of Migrations / V Migratic Symposium was selected by an international scientific committee to compose this e-book and to offer reflection and memory paths around a research field and migratory practices that have interculturality and communication as central points. In this perspective, this collection is a kind of continuation of Diasporas, migrations, communication technologies and transnational identities, another e-book published in 2013, organized by the same professors and also edited by InCom-UAB.
