O Evangelho segundo os jacobinos: Floriano Peixoto e o mito do salvador da república brasileira

Abstract

The dissertation searches the attempt of the Brazilians jacobins to legitimate Floriano Peixoto as the most important hero of the republic, founded in 1889. It will be defended that this project to transform Floriano Peixoto on a myth was supported by his partisans' interpretation about the Revolta da Armada, in 1893 and about his death. His performance during the rebellion and the intimate connection between that one and his death would justify, for the jacobins, the evelation of Floriano to the condition of saving hero of the Brazilian republic.
