Análise crítica das indicações da operação casariana na Maternidade Escola da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

Cesarean section is the oldest surgery in the history of Medicine. Its incidence in Brazil is above that recommended by the WHO. judicious and it is necessary to know the nature of the hospital service from which it comes the indications. The objectives are: to carry out a critical analysis of the indications of the cesarean section at the Maternity School of UFRJ relating the discharge impact on the institution's profile and the specific objectives are: to verify the indications, description of perinatal outcomes and reporting maternal morbidity related to cesarean section. Methodology: Descriptive, cross-sectional study retrospective. Identification of patients undergoing cesarean section in the first quarter of 2007. Collection of the following variables: diagnosis of hospitalization , gestational age , prenatal follow-up or not at the institution and number of consultations performed, indication of cesarean section, fetal weight, Apgar in the first and fifth minutes, presence of meconium, presence of or not of a surgical complication and what the complication was, assessment of whether there was whether or not attempted normal labor induction with due record in childbirth gram and fetal presentation in cases of twin pregnancies. Results: 318 medical records were evaluated with birth of 332 live births (14 twins). There were 107 emergency cesarean sections and 211 elective cesarean sections. The most frequent indications were the presence of previous uterine scarring, hypertensive syndromes and oligohydramnia that are indications compatible with the institution's profile
