MULPLIX: Um sistema operacional tipo UNIX para o Multiprocessador MULTIPLUS

Abstract

This paper describes the current development state of MULPLIX, an operating system which is being designed for MULTIPLUS, a high-performance scientific multiprocessor computer under development at NCE/UFRJ. In this initial version, MULPLIX will be a result of extensions to PLURIX aiming at the adaptation of PLURIX to MULTIPLUS architecture and the requirements of parallel scientific applictions. The main extensions are related to the possibility of creation of light-weight processes, changes in the scheduling and memory management policies, availability of synchronization primitives for the user and a more efficient implementation of busy waiting synchronization primitives.
