Um pedaço da vida: luto gestacional e neonatal na paternidade

Abstract

The intention of this work is to present and reflect on the idea of death in a period so sensitive and full of expectations that demarcates the social ideals about pregnancy. What would it be like to deal with the event of death, when everyone "expects" the birth of a new human being. The knowledge of death itself has made the human animal the holder of a knowledge that determines achievements throughout its life journey. In these configurations of transience, life and death, among other reflective points, emerge as forces of constituent thought leading, in the unbearable lightness of the human being, to places of memory where gestating a new life is trampled with primitive, archaic fears, where such enigmas arise on the horizon. Here we intend to outline the place of death and dying as something that constitutes life, its implications in the Western world and how it is understood historically, as well as to go through the places of the unconscious, having in Psychoanalysis its contribution to think about the living and dying of the babies in us, taking, above all, the psychoanalyst and pediatrician Donald W. Winnicott as an interlocutor of these primary scenes that unfold in our emotional development until the end of the continuity of being human. To this end, we present a life story, a vignette, and the experience of neonatal loss, where the central character will be a bereaved man at a certain period of his human existence. Thinking about the place of the father, in this universe of sensations, is to take as a proposal his place of protagonism in this moment of pain and grief.
