Tropeços em linha reta: análise das políticas públicas dos serviços de água e esgoto na cidade do Recife (2000-2016)

Abstract

The present work describes the trajectory of the indicators of water supply and sewage for the City of Recife between the years 2000 and 2016 as well as the different conceptions of sanitation in force during the period. It is not possible to observe significant advances in the main indicators related to the expansion and universalization of the coverage of these services. However, it is possible to draw parallels between the prevailing conceptions for the sector's policy that could influence the results obtained. Based on the data presented, it is concluded that the objective of universalizing access to these services is still far away and is strongly affected by management changes over the years.
