Estudo sobre o gênero Helicobia Coquillett, 1895, em especial, o grupo Iheringi (Diptera, Sarcophagidae)

Abstract

Deals with the study of genus Hellcobla Coquillett, 1895, especially the IHERINGI GROUP, including an introduction, a discussion of existing literature and information about the material and the methods employed. The genus Helicobia is characterized and keys for identification of the groups LAGUNICULA, RAPAX and IHERINGI as well as for the species of the latter group are prepared. Redescriptions are given for H. borgmeieri Lopes, 1939, H. iheringi Lopes , 1939, H. penai Tibana, 1976, H. pilifera Lopes , 1939, H. pilipleura Lopes, 1939, H. resinata (Hall, 1933) and H. surubea (Wulp, 1895). These species are compared and analyzed with their geografical distribution and new locality records are given. The aedeagus structures considered relevant are analyzed and discussed, some receive new interpretations which permit a better understanding of groups in which such strutures are not so evident. Some biological and ecological aspects of Helicobia are discussed.
