Atrás do muro: cidade e subjetividade, uma visão contemporânea das transformações urbanas

Abstract

The Brazilian big cities have been represented by significant economic growth, materialized in large buildings, big events and the power of real estate capital in the definition of uneven urban spaces. In the capitalist mode of production, the inequalities are not assumptions, but assumptions, indicating that sophisticated forms of segregation and distinction are created in order to maintain the status quo by controlling the modes of subjectivity and existence. The homogenizing rationality of capital materializes in the geographical support and strengthen the social places to be occupied by certain classes and groups, creating and recreating the distinction of symbols and power. Thus, the urban enclaves appear as main exit in climbing the distinction not only between the self and the other, but between the city, represented by chaos, violence, conflict, and the tower, refuge, comfort and consensus. So it was with the Alphavilles in São Paulo and with the latest developments called Garden City and Island Pure, located in Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro. In recent years, Pernambuco entered this way, with colossal condominium built in the metropolitan region of Recife. The recent and emblematic case is the construction of the first "smart city" in Latin America, located in São Lourenço da Mata. The project, to be held in a public-private partnership between state, county and the consortium coordinated by Odebrecht Participações e Investimentos (OPI) and Construtora Norberto Odebrecht (CNO), was driven by the hosting of the World Cup in 2014 and since then he has starred in several rights violations, such removals peoples for construction of access roads. The prospect of the city-company, materialized in urban enclaves, is a denial on the city as a place of holding the public sphere. Is at stake a way of life by which presupposes an idea of equality among equals, no conflicts, no corners streets without taverns, a place that is born ready, the construction of the identity of the place loses more existential aspects and poetic of territoriality, prevails amnesic place. Reflect on how aspects of subjectivity, of otherness and difference are put into play with this experience of building a city, is part of a relevant year in order to draw up new questions about the sociability in the cities, strengthening the thought critical of homogenizing rationality of capital.
