A importância dos cuidados de saúde durante os mil dias de vida: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

he study addresses the importance of healthcare in the first thousand days of life, a period spanning from conception to the first two years of age, considered essential for a child's comprehensive development. Through an integrative literature review, we sought to analyze care related to nutrition, maternal and child health, and public policies aimed at health promotion and prevention. The research was conducted in renowned databases such as Scielo, PubMed, and BVS, considering publications between 2010 and 2025, in Portuguese and English. The PICO strategy guided the development of the research question: What are the most effective healthcare practices during the first thousand days of life and how do they impact children's physical, cognitive, and emotional development? Factors that directly impact children's cognitive, motor, and immunological development were identified, as well as the need for effective public policies to mitigate social inequalities and promote breastfeeding. The results reinforce the role of public health in building solid foundations that impact child development.
