A produção imobiliária no município de Nova Iguaçu: a construção de um condomínio no bairro da Posse

Abstract

This paper proposes to discuss the distribution of social classes in the use and occupation of urban land, based on the construction of a brief empirical study in which it is intended to reach current evidences that prove or not the continuous reproduction of the territorial separation between the different segments. The research discusses the occupation and use of urban land by a middle class in a peripheral area - the neighborhood of Posse, in Nova Iguaçu - evidencing a process of construction of condominiums closed outside the central areas. Significant changes have occurred in the housing pattern of the periphery due to the investments made by real estate developers, which has been producing new trends in the pattern of social segregation.
