Trabalho e condições de moradia na monocultura escravista: zona canavieira da Paraíba e Pernambuco

Abstract

The paper deals with the working conditions of the working class during the slave period in Brazil, with a special focus on the agro-exporting complex of sugarcane in Paraíba and Pernambuco. It deals with the question of architecture not only because of the technical aspect, but inserted in a historical context. In a slave society in which production is export-oriented, favoring the enrichment of the metropolis, working-class housing would have a special meaning, a characteristic of its own.
