Resumo

The analysis of accidents involving nuclear power plants or facilities that use or process radioactive sources raise questions related to the decision-making processes and procedures used to restore normal living conditions in the affected areas. Due to the great complexity of the decision processes after the accidents, a multi-criteria approach has been recommended to support the choice between the various remediation procedures. In this work a software was developed in Visual Basic (Excel) language, named SIMCAR: Integrated Multi-criteria System for Remediation Actions in Urban Areas contaminated by nuclear accident. SIMCAR performs the dose calculation on residents and visitors from urban settings; Simulates the effect of the use of decontamination procedures on surfaces, dose rates of the environments and the doses of residents and visitors; Classifies these procedures, according to the results obtained, in specific scenarios, within pre-established criteria; and establishes priorities through the use of multi-criteria model, considering the relevant aspects of radioprotection. This work considers only the radionuclide Cs-137, being the most relevant radionuclide in the remediation phase of a nuclear accident in urban areas.
